CHACACHACARE ISLAND

Chacachacare Island has a wealth of history and lots to explore. This island is the largest island in the
Down the Island chain and is also the furthest from the mainland. Rich with history and walks, the
island has much to see. But most persons enjoy its very calm waters that are very sheltered due to
the size of the bay. The area is also wonderful for snorkelling, or just a day to spend on a beautiful
bay.
On the Western side of the island, there is also a salt lake that is accessible via a short 20 minute
walk.
But Chacachare is not without its dangers! It is home to the Machineel tree, known as the deadliest
tree on earth! It is always advised that the island should be explored with a knowledgeable guide at
hand.
